City Council approves rail realignment letter for today's SANDAG meeting
During a special meeting Thursday, Feb. 27, the City Council approved a letter responding to SANDAG’s rail realignment objectives and alternatives.
In its letter, the City of Del Mar argues that SANDAG’s application of project objectives is unclear and incomplete. The letter expresses Del Mar’s concerns with the proposed railway alignments. It does not identify a preferred alignment.
As a “responsible agency” under state environmental law, the City has direct jurisdiction over development applications and other approvals that the realignment project could require. Accordingly, it is the City’s intent to keep all options open and free of prejudice to best protect the City’s interests.
The LOSSAN Rail Realignment Project seeks to remove the railway off the Del Mar bluffs by 2035.
