COMMUNITY BRIEFS

fourth of july parade on Coast Boulevard

Coast Boulevard will be closed between 15th and 20th streets from 8:30 to 11 a.m. July 4 to allow for an Independence Day parade

Plan ahead for a fun and safe Fourth

Can you believe the Fourth of July is just one week away?

As the City of Del Mar prepares to host its busiest holiday, Del Mar Foundation is set to lead a homegrown parade and get-together at Powerhouse Park.

A full closure of Coast Boulevard between 15th and 20th streets is scheduled from 8:30 to 11 a.m. to allow for the parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m.

The fun starts with a 9 a.m. flag salute led by Cub Scout Pack 734 and the National Anthem performed by Del Mar Community Connections' "Singing Together" group.

Participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, strollers and wagons and dress themselves and their dogs in red, white and blue. Please leave E-bikes at home.

Gather at Powerhouse Park afterward for cookies and lemonade, to greet Uncle Sam and sing patriotic songs.

Throughout the day, residents can expect parking restrictions at many locations along the beach colony and North Hills neighborhoods.

A full complement of Community Services, Lifeguard, Fire Department and Public Works staff will be on hand. So will extra Sheriff's deputies.

Residents and visitors are reminded that fireworks are prohibited and alcohol may not be consumed on City beaches, parks and streets.

Have a fun and safe Fourth!
