Monday: Emergency San Dieguito Drive repair on council agendaStaff is recommending that the City Council on Monday approve $131,000 to complete emergency repairs on San Dieguito Drive and Racetrack View Drive.
In November, heavy rains caused an aging corrugated metal storm drain pipe and its inlet and outlet structures to fail. The failures undermined the roadway and threatened to damage a sewer pipeline.
Emergency repairs include replacing the drain with modern, reinforced concrete pipe; rebuilding the inlet and outlet structures on both sides of the road; protecting the sewer main; reinstalling a guard rail, and reconstructing the roadway subgrade and embankment.

Monday: City Council to select mayor and deputy mayorThe City Council on Monday is scheduled to complete its annual selection of Del Mar's mayor and deputy mayor.
To select the mayor and deputy mayor, the City Council traditionally places the top two vote-getters from the previous election cycle into the positions.
In 2024, now-Deputy Mayor Tracy Martinez was the highest vote-getter and, if the council follows past practice, would become mayor.
For the deputy mayor's post, Councilmember John Spelich is next in line to serve in that role.
Selections of mayor and deputy mayor must be confirmed by at least three votes of the City Council.
