A fast-moving winter storm combined with king tides brought dramatic surf to Del Mar in January.

Del Mar lifeguards and firefighters welcomed their counterparts from Solana Beach to Anderson Canyon in February to participate in rope rescue training.

MARCH
Del Mar lifeguards in March responded to multiple reports of beached marine mammals and birds that had been sickened by toxic algae.

APRIL 
The City Council in April established new bicycle and e-bike regulations. The ordinance authorizes Sheriff's deputies to divert first-time offenders to a safety training program rather than issuing a citation.

MAY
During National Public Works Week in May, Del Mar's public works employees received the appreciation they deserve during a luncheon with speeches and formal recognitions.

JUNE
The City Council in June approved the installation of loaned artwork at five locations in downtown Del Mar. The Del Mar Foundation, which underwrites the Temporary Sculpture Program, selected the pieces for the council’s consideration.

Senior Lifeguard Aidan Goodman visited Petco Park in July to accept the San Diego Padres' “Lifeguard of the Year” award.

The 2025 Fuel Reduction Program in August netted a record haul of 19.66 tons. EDCO runs the annual brush collection program in cooperation with Del Mar's fire and public works departments.

City staff in September completed “First on the Scene” training to practice CPR and other lifesaving techniques.

Crest Canyon Utility Undergrounding District

OCTOBER 
In October, a $7.1 million construction program began for the Crest Canyon Utility Undergrounding District.

In November, the City Council modified Municipal Code chapters related to trees, scenic views and sunlight regulations.

DECEMBER
The City Council in December advanced plans to repave Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar's widest road and its busiest during major events at the fairgrounds. The $3.5 million paving and striping program begins this spring.
