Monday: City to launch portal for short-term rental operators

The City of Del Mar on Monday is set to launch an online portal for existing, registered owners of short term rentals to apply for operating permits. The application period closes May 1, 2026.


An $815 fee is due upon approval of the application; city staff will issue invoices to approved applicants.


Unregistered property owners are ineligible to apply but can request to be added to a waitlist.


The online portal will be accessible on Del Mar's Short Term Rentals webpage.

Tuesday: City Council meeting

A regular meeting of the City Council begins at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Del Mar Civic Center Town Hall, 1050 Camino Del Mar. Regular City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month.

Heads up on NB Jimmy Durante Boulevard closures

Heads up, commuters, on intermittent closures of northbound Jimmy Durante Boulevard between Luzon Avenue and David Way  to allow for construction on the adjacent hillside. Closures can be expected from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays through April.

In a weekly notice to the City of Del Mar, SANDAG covers planned construction activities for the Del Mar Bluffs 5 Stabilization Project and geotechnical testing for the proposed LOSSAN Rail Realignment Project.

March 7-8: Railway closure for nonstop construction

Another weekend of suspended train service and round-the-clock construction for SANDAG's Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization Program is scheduled for 10 p.m. March 6 through 5 a.m. March 9.


The Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization 5 project is expected to continue through mid-2027.

The Clean Energy Alliance has approved rate relief measures to reduce customers' energy costs. The measures will offset increases in state-mandated charges and ensure CEA's rates remain competitive with those of SDG&E.

March 21: Del Mar Recycles drop-off event

Just in time for the start of spring, residents can clear clutter and collect compost and mulch for their gardens during a recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 21, at the lower parking lot of Shores Park. An EDCO flyer lists items that can be dropped off.

For the fellows, the Retired Older Men Eat Out group lunches at a Del Mar restaurant at noon on the last Tuesday of the month. 


A new ladies' group, Just Us Ladies Interested in Eating Together Sometimes, will hold its first get-together 12:30 p.m. March 23 at Coral Del Mar.
