Enjoying our beautiful beach. And picking up after ourselves

Beautiful weather, spring break, a luxurious beach with so much sand—all are great reasons to visit the beach.

Common courtesy, protecting marine life, the ShoreSaver Program and a community cleanup on April 18—all are great reasons to pick up after yourself.

Keeping Del Mar clean is a big job. During the Fourth of July weekend, for instance, the Public Works Department hauls more than two tons of trash from our beaches and parks.

We'll take all the help we can get!

ShoreSaver baskets

Here's what you can do:

  • After visiting the beach, leave only footprints;
  • Take advantage of the Del Mar ShoreSaver Program, which provides baskets for beachgoers to tote refuse from the sand to receptacles; and
  • Participate in DMVA's “Keep Del Mar Green” Community Cleanup from 9:30 to 11 a.m. April 18 at the Beach Safety Center, 1700 Coast Blvd.
