Residents are Reminded to Be Safe on the Fourth of JulyAs the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the City and the Sheriff would like to provide residents and visitors with information and safety tips to ensure you have an enjoyable holiday.
Events- The Fourth of July Parade will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Powerhouse Park. (Please note the updated times.)
- Fireworks will be launched from the Del Mar Fairgrounds at 9 p.m.
Safety Tips- Del Mar prohibits open fires and fire rings at the beaches, parks, preserves, and bluff-tops.
- Alcohol is not allowed on the beach, beach accesses, park lands, and public parking lots until after Labor Day. Alcohol is not allowed year round on city sidewalks and streets.
- Tents are prohibited on city beaches, parks, preserves, bluff tops, or open spaces. Sunshades, beach cabanas, or canopies that are no larger than 10 feet by 10 feet in size and that have no more than two walls or 180 degrees of coverage are allowed on the beach or at Seagrove or Powerhouse park. Sunshades or canopies that impair the Lifeguards' ability to scan the beach or park may have to be removed.
- Smoking is prohibited at all City parks, beaches, and seawalls.
- Don't drink and drive. Call a designated driver.
- Residents and visitors are reminded to drive slow as there will likely be an increased level of activity in the City due to visitors. Watch for pedestrians crossing the streets.

Remember that Fireworks are IllegalThe safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional public display.
All fireworks including sparklers and poppers are illegal and DANGEROUS. Enjoy a public professional display of fireworks and have a safe 4th of July.
Fireworks are dangerous and illegal. In the City of Del Mar, use or possession of fireworks is a misdemeanor and subject to a fine and/or imprisonment.

Sky lanterns also present serious fire and safety hazards. Sky lanterns are airborne paper lanterns with a fuel source that are known to travel significant distances and start fires far from where they were launched.

City Hall Closed on July 3City Hall will be closed on July 3, 2015 in observance of the Fourth of July. The Beach Public Safety Center will remain open.
