Crosswalks taking shape
For a project designed to improve pedestrian safety, new and reconfigured crosswalks are a key component.
This week, workers set pavers for crosswalks on the east side of Camino del Mar at 14th, 13th and 12th streets.
The Downtown Streetscape Project on Camino del Mar will improve all crosswalks between 15th and 9th streets and add a brand new crosswalk, with pedestrian-activated flashing lights, across the highway at 10th Street.
Crosswalks at 13th and 11th streets will be expanded from 3- to 4-way crossings. All crosswalks will be built with 4-inch-by-12-inch concrete pavers in earth tones.
The installations require temporary lane closures.
