SANDAG’s Coastal Connections Conceptual Planning Study was completed in 2023 to assess opportunities for pedestrian trails and crossings along 1.5 miles of railway between Coast Boulevard and Torrey Pines State Beach. This study provided the initial planning for SANDAG's Del Mar Bluffs Access Improvements Project, which will involve the design and implementation of pedestrian beach access improvements along and the railway. SANDAG is required to build the project within three years from the start of construction of the Del Mar Bluffs Stabilization Project 5, which began in spring 2024.
