San Diego LOSSAN Rail Realignment - SANDAG

SANDAG planners are examining alternatives to move the railway from the bluffs in Del Mar to an inland location. Environmental review began spring 2024. An updated Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was released in May 2025. The City's comments on the updated NOP of a Draft EIR were submitted in June 2025. The San Diego LOSSAN Rail Realignment Project seeks to improve the movement of people and goods on the busy railway between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.
