Clean Water Program
The Del Mar Clean Water Program protects and enhances the quality of our lagoons, beaches, and the Pacific Ocean. By overseeing pollution-sensitive activity, providing education and outreach, and monitoring water quality, this program ensures that Del Mar remains a beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
Storm Water
One critical aspect of clean water is storm water management. Storm water is any precipitation that flows over impervious surfaces such as streets, parking lots, and rooftops into storm drains. This water picks up pollutants from these surfaces and carries them through untreated storm drains out into bodies of water such as streams, rivers, lagoons, and the Pacific Ocean.
As a coastal community, Del Mar implements storm water practices to ensure the safety of our beaches for wildlife and recreation, fostering a thriving and vibrant community that benefits all residents and visitors alike. It is imperative that residents, business owners, and contractors prevent water pollution by following best management practices.

Be Rain-Ready! Take a look around your home, school, or business to see if anything needs immediate cleanup. Sweep up or collect debris and dispose of it in the appropriate trash container with the lid securely closed.
Sweep to protect! Help keep our waterways clean by using a broom to clear fallen leaves and trimmings instead of hosing down hard surfaces like driveways or patios.
