Background
Construction projects are a sign of a healthy economy and provide necessary housing, infrastructure, and energy. During the construction process, it is important to minimize its impact on the environment. The Del Mar Clean Water Program works with contractors to prioritize clean water and ensure stormwater compliance with local and state regulations by conducting regular site inspections.
Resources
BMPs are best management practices and structural controls used to prevent or reduce the discharge of pollutants from runoff, spillage or leaks, sludge or waste disposal, or drainage from raw material storage to our waterways. BMPs can include scheduling of activities, prohibitions of practices, operation and maintenance procedures, treatment, and vegetated infiltration basins amongst other practices. Below is a link with a list of common BMPs implemented for construction activities.
